Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin met in 1998 whilst studying Fashion at the University of Technology Sydney. Martin went on to develop his design aesthetic with spells at Alberta Ferretti, Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Atelier, J. Mendel and Derek Lam. Lobo worked as a designer buyer, stylist, journalist and brand consultant in Australia. 2011 saw the birth of TOME, an every woman brand where purity is the cornerstone. Based in New York TOME sees the pair’s collective experience expressed in a range that is practical and straightforward – clean cut, essential dressing. Form follows function and every TOME piece is infinitely wearable with luxurious and functional fabrications and interesting combinations of color and texture. Each season the designers choose female artists as a muse to influence their take on wardrobe staples such as the white shirt, the trench coat, the camisole dress. TOME was amongst the finalists at the prestigious CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund in 2013 and has presented collections at NYFW since the beginning of that year. In 2014 TOME launched a philanthropic project in conjunction with Freedom For All, a foundation that fights human trafficking and modern day slavery. The White Shirt Project brought attention to this cause and donated money towards its partners. The brand is stocked throughout the USA, Asia, The Middle East and Australia. Stockists include Net-a-Porter, Moda Operandi, Shopbop, Saks and Harvey Nichols.
